When is it time to consider euthanasia for your pet?

There are many factors and considerations when it’s time to help our pets gently pass on. Our pet’s Quality of life is so important (over quantity of life) and our beloved pets depend on us as to when is the best time to make this decision.

Quality of life scales like Dr. Villalobos’s scale (under our resources tab) can help to quantify quality of life and take away some of the emotional bias. Also making a list of a few things that your pet always has enjoyed, and going through that list to see if they can still do those activities can help in making the decision about when its time to consider euthanasia. Another helpful tool is noting on a calendar if your pet had a “good day” or a “bad day”, can also be helpful in keeping ahead of trends and ensuring you are making the best decision for your beloved pet.
